The fabric cover is the heart of any covered wagon—and ours is built to outperform the rest. PlainsCraft wagons feature a synthetic marine grade, outer fabric engineered to resist: mold, mildew, rot, moisture, and UV damage, as well as minimize condensation. What truly sets ours apart is our proprietary Bonnetgard™ Cover System—a five-layer solution that’s essential for lasting performance and guest comfort.
This insulated system combines weather resistance, noise reduction, and temperature control. The outer Aqualon Edge layer, defends against water, mildew, fading, and heat—while preserving a classic canvas look. Inside, a 2 ½-inch air cavity, a radiant heat barrier, and thermal-acoustic insulation create a quieter, more private guest experience. A breathable soft and beautiful Sunforger® canvas interior adds the finishing touch.
At PlainsCraft, we were the first to bring a solid wood entry door and full end wall system to the covered wagon market—raising the bar for security, insulation, and performance. Every wagon door is built custom—crafted in-house and framed in metal to eliminate issues with seasonal expansion or shrinkage. Each entry door includes a window and lockable handle for added security.
The result is a door that locks securely, insulates effectively, and delivers peace of mind—something a simple zipper door or canvas end could never match. Combined with the structural integrity of a full solid end wall, this design significantly improves safety for your guests and energy efficiency for your operation.
A wooden bathroom door with a similar metal frame offers full privacy.
A vented window in the front door and bathroom include custom-made fabric valances that can be lowered for privacy or rolled up and secured using our signature leather-like strap system when guests want natural light to flow in.

PlainsCraft revolutionized the glamping industry with the first covered wagon featuring an en suite bathroom—and we’ve perfected it through thoughtful design and real-world testing. Each wagon in our Pioneer Elite series includes a bathroom with a full-sized toilet, shower and sink—with hot water—designed for guest comfort without compromising space or aesthetics.
Our mold and mildew-resistant bathroom is fully encapsulated within the wagon, using waterproof materials and no canvas. The area is independently ventilated to direct moisture and odors outside, ensuring a clean, dry environment.
We’ are proud to have delivered hundreds of wagons with en suite bathrooms to all corners of the US and Canada with 100% customer satisfaction. Our sealed, ventilated system ensures low-maintenance performance, providing you and your guests with a comfortable, worry-free experience.
No covered wagon is complete without the iconic wooden wheels that once symbolized adventure and resilience. At PlainsCraft, we’ve preserved that legacy—partnering with skilled Amish wheelwrights in Ohio who handcraft each wheel from premium hardwood for long-term durability and visual impact.
Each wheel is built with heavy-duty steel boxing, roller bearings, and extra-heavy steel tires—blending old-world craftsmanship with modern reliability. While our wagons are fully functional, they’re designed to stay in place to preserve their structural integrity and maintain their striking, guest-ready appearance for years to come.
These wheels aren’t just authentic—they’re a lasting investment in quality and guest experience.

Whether you’re on a resort, private property, or offering a short-term rental, guests expect comfort no matter the season. That’s why our Pioneer Elite, Prairie, and Mustang wagons come equipped with a Mitsubishi 18,000 BTU/240V mini-split system (heat and cool), while our Show Pony includes a 12,000 BTU/120V unit—both paired with our Bonnetgard™ insulation for efficient, quiet operation.
Paired with our proprietary Bonnetgard™ Cover System, these climate solutions offer more than just comfort—they help stabilize interior temperatures and reduce energy usage, keeping operational costs low and guest satisfaction high.
Our exterior porch and stair system are designed to do more than meet expectations—they’re built to meet commercial code standards for strength, safety, and everyday functionality, something you can only find at PlainsCraft. Engineered with heavy-duty materials and a comfortable angle for easier access, they offer a more comfortable approach for guests of all ages.
Each stair system includes 12-inch treads, 7 ¾-inch risers, 10-inch side stringers, and a very sturdy railing system; with all gaps kept under 4-inches for added safety and security. The result is a stable, solid porch and stairway that complements the wagon’s craftsmanship while supporting safe access in any setting.
As with every element of a PlainsCraft wagon, these stairs are built for real-world hospitality use, with both durability and your guest top of mind—from the first step in.

Each PlainsCraft wagon begins with hand-selected, premium-grade lumber chosen to meet our strict durability standards. To ensure lasting performance and minimal maintenance, each board is treated with a three coat sealing/staining process. The first two coats are applied before assembly for full coverage and complete saturation—safeguarding the wood from moisture, sun exposure, and wear. After assembly, a final hand-applied coat adds another layer of protection and visual refinement.
This process ensures each wagon is built to withstand the elements and meet the demands of outdoor hospitality settings—while retaining its beauty through all seasons. A simple touch-up now and then will keep it looking guest-ready for years to come.
Each metal component of a PlainsCraft wagon is treated with a durable, powder-coated layer—designed to seal and protect the material for long-term performance in outdoor environments. This industrial-grade treatment provides a weatherproof, rust-resistant barrier that stands up to rain, sun, and seasonal wear and prevents chips or scraping.
Not only does this layer deliver low-maintenance durability, it also enhances the wagon’s pioneer-era aesthetic with a clean, rustic finish. Built to perform and styled with purpose, our metalwork ensures your wagon investment remains both functional and beautiful for years to come.
